'The Wall' - Disco de Pink Floyd cumple 30 años
Salido de las neuronas de Roger Waters, por entonces aún bajista/vocalista/principal creativo de Pink Floyd, “The Wall” es un manifiesto de locura como efecto de la gran guerra, de la educación en serie, del abuso tutelar de maestros de escuela, del brazo demasiado fuerte de una madre que impide el libre aleteo de su hijo; del abandono, de la soledad: todo ello ha sido parte de la vida de Waters; aspectos trasladados al personaje central de la obra: Pink. ¿Qué mejor que levantar una pared de recios ladrillos como mejor forma de protección ante tanta amenaza exterior? La pared como alegoría de un mecanismo de defensa, de un acto reflejo: el aislamiento.
Detrás de ese concepto general, la música: temas fuertes que castigan como golpes (In the Flesh), ritmos pesados que surten efecto como medios de denuncia (Another Brick in the Wall, que aparece en tres partes), melodías angustiosas como catalizadoras de miedos, traumas y demás (Mother); el cierre de una etapa en la vida, a través de una canción esperanzadora, halógena: Goodbye Blue Sky. De repente, la soledad. El agobio, otra vez (Nobody Home y Vera). Y piezas que, más allá de su interpretación, siempre han sonado como caballos de batalla: Run Like Hell, Waiting for the Worms y la titánica Comfortably Numb (oído a la música: al solo de guitarra de David Gilmour en uno de sus momentos más felices).
